Start of Semester Tasks

Classes will be open to students 4 days before the start of the semester.

Please complete the following tasks once you have copied your course content from previous or existing courses.  

Homepage

  1. Check the homepage and update any information as needed.
  2. Test and update links.

Content

  1. Update any course files and content.
  2. Test and update course links.
  3. Delete outdated or unused content.
  4. Update any date restrictions.

Announcements

  1. Post a welcome message to your class.
  2. Delete any old messages that are not applicable.

Grades

  1. Add and/or modify gradebook items.
  2. Delete outdated or unused grade book items.
  3. Ensure all items are visible unless you want them hidden.
  4. Ensure all items are attached to associated assignments, quizzes, and discussions. (if applicable)

Assignments

  1. Add and/or modify assignments.
  2. Delete outdated or unused assignments.
  3. Update any date restrictions.
  4. Ensure Turnitin is enabled (if applicable)

Discussions

  1. Create and update discussions.
  2. Delete outdated or unused discussions.
  3. Update any date restrictions.

Quizzes

  1. Add and/or modify quizzes.
  2. Delete outdated or unused quizzes.
  3. Update any date restrictions.
  4. Ensure Respondus is activated (if applicable)

Groups

  1. Add and/or modify groups.
  2. Delete outdated or unused groups.
  3. Ensure groups are associated with discussions and assignments (if applicable)

  1. Review Due Dates and Date Restrictions.

Review Course

  1. Review the Course in Student View and adjust accordingly.
    • Click your name in the upper right-hand corner>Choose View as Student
