Content Experience, Creator+ and Lumi Pro
Overview
Sheridan is preparing to introduce several new SLATE enhancements designed to improve course development, content creation, and learner engagement.
Beginning in May 2027, instructors will have access to new tools and experiences that support more efficient course design while maintaining flexibility during the transition period.
Content Experience
The New Content Experience is SLATE’s updated approach to creating and managing course content.
Benefits include:
- Improved content authoring workflows
- Updated interface and navigation
- Better support for modern content creation tools
- Streamlined editing and organization of course materials
Do I have to switch immediately?
No. When the feature is introduced, instructors will be able to choose between:
- New Content Experience
- Classic Content Experience
This setting can be enabled or disabled based on course development needs.
The Classic Content Experience is expected to remain available until approximately 2029, at which time Brightspace plans to fully transition customers to the newer experience.
This phased approach allows instructors time to explore the updated tools while maintaining access to familiar workflows.
Creator+
Creator+ provides additional tools for creating engaging and interactive course materials.
Features include:
- Interactive content elements
- Enhanced media presentation options
- Content styling tools
- Improved learner engagement opportunities
Creator+ can help transform traditional text-based content into more visually engaging and interactive learning experiences.
Want to see Creator+ in action? You can preview it in the Creator+ course in the Brightspace Community. If you don’t already have a Brightspace Community login, you can create one for free.
Lumi Pro
Lumi Pro introduces AI-assisted course development tools within SLATE.
Potential uses include:
- Generating content drafts
- Creating quiz questions
- Brainstorming learning activities
- Assisting with course design workflows
As with any AI-supported tool, instructor review and subject-matter expertise remain essential to ensure quality, accuracy, and alignment with course outcomes.
Additional guidance on using AI responsibly within course development will be provided as part of Sheridan’s implementation and training resources.
Training and Support
Before these tools become broadly available, the SLATE team will provide:
- Information sessions
- Demonstrations
- Documentation
- Self-paced resources
- Consultation and support opportunities
Our goal is to ensure instructors have the information and support needed to determine which tools best fit their teaching and course development practices.
Stay tuned for additional announcements and training opportunities throughout 2027.
