The SPARK Team is continuing the rollout of Copyleaks as Sheridan’s institutionally supported plagiarism-detection tool. Further to our earlier communications, we are sharing additional updates to support faculty planning.
Beginning in Winter 2026, Copyleaks will fully replace Turnitin. Sheridan’s contract with Turnitin will expire on March 31, 2026, after which the platform will no longer be available.
What This Means for You
To support a smooth transition, all faculty are encouraged to begin using Copyleaks for assignments and evaluations starting in Winter 2026. Copyleaks is already fully available within SLATE, and faculty are welcome to explore and integrate it into upcoming courses.
On December 16, Copyleaks will move from the Content area into the Assessment Tool within SLATE. This update will streamline assignment setup and improve the overall workflow.
Support & Training
SPARK will continue to provide support throughout this transition.
Faculty can:
- Attend training sessions and workshops through PD Connect
- Access resources and self-paced materials in the SPARK Resource Hub
- Request 1:1 support by submitting a ticket to SPARK Support
Urgent Reminder – Action Required
Turnitin access ends on March 31, 2026. If you require Turnitin reports for Academic Integrity or Grade Appeal cases, please ensure you download all necessary reports before this date. After March 31, Turnitin will no longer be accessible for retrieving any stored reports or files.
Next Steps for Faculty
- Transition all remaining Turnitin-based assignments to Copyleaks
- Connect with SPARK anytime for training, guidance, or individual support
Thank you for your cooperation as we transition to Sheridan’s supported academic technologies.
