Is it possible to view the courses prior to the actual star date? I need to contact my professors however I am unable to as there’s no course showing up…it’s rather frustrating how students don’t have the opportunity to get ready for their courses or to contact their professors prior to the first class.

    • Jennifer Frost Jennifer Frost says:

Thanks for the note. Classes are visible on the first day of the semester. If you need to get in touch with your professor before the first day of class, you will find their name in Access Sheridan, My Student Centre.
I hope that helps. Please let me know and good luck on your first day of class! – Jennifer

Thank you for the comment, please send me an email with your name and student number and what class you are enrolled in. I can take a look, I would also recommend getting in touch with your instructor as well, they just might not have added content yet.

My course just disappeared from Slate. I am registered in the class and I was just about to upload my first discussion assignment. It was available this morning. How do I get the course back?

Is there a way to view your past courses to see what marks you got on assignments?

    • Jennifer Frost Jennifer Frost says:

You will lose access to your courses, 1 week after classes have ended. If you need to access anything, you would need to contact the instructor directly. Thank you!

Hi there, I was approved for my PLAR access on Monday, my teacher emailed me through slate. However it is not coming up in my courses, i cannot seem to find a way to access the material. IT has told me different things, to email the professor, to wait 24-48 hours (which the professor has said should not be the case) I am super stuck and my deadline is tomorrow.

    • Jennifer Frost Jennifer Frost says:

      Emily,
Thank you for the comment. I looked into your issue and it appears there is an issue in how the course was set up, it is not on your end. I have contacted the instructor via voicemail and by email.
You are more than welcome to contact her directly to see if the situation is resolved, but once she makes the change, you will have access to your course.

I hope that helps. If you have any other questions. Please let me know.

Hello, I remember for fall semester my courses were up on slate a week before school started. And for this winter i do not see them yet. Are they supposed to be up and there is something wrong with my account. thanks,

    • Jennifer Frost Jennifer Frost says:

Thank you for the comment Chantel. If you are an instructor and you have been assigned the class in Peoplesoft you will have access to your class in SLATE. If you have been enrolled in more than 26 classes you will need to search for your 1161 offerings, they will not automatically appear on your list.

If you are a student, you will not have access to your classes until the first day of class.

I hope that helps, if you have any other questions, please feel free to contact me directly.

I enrolled in a class late, after it started, and do not yet see it in my course programs on SLATE. How long should it take to show up?

    Tyler

    • Jennifer Frost Jennifer Frost says:

Thank you for the comment Tyler.

If you enrolled in the class today, Friday or over the weekend, you will be loaded into SLATE tonight. You will have access in the morning. The general rule is around 24 hours after you have been enrolled in the class. (not including the weekend).

I hope that helps. If you have any other questions, please let me know.

Thank you for the email. If you are a student, you will not see the class until the start date. If you are in the instructor you will see the course 3-4 weeks prior to the start date. • Avatar Sema Schreiber says:

Is there a way to remove some items from this drop down menu or archiving them? Thanks Jana!

    • Jennifer Frost Jennifer Frost says:

      Sema,
Thank you for the comment. You are not able to remove items from this list. But there are a few work arounds that might help. Within the course selector, you can pin your current semester classes for easy access. Also, under the My Courses widget once you get to a certain amount of enrolments, (26 courses) you will only see your top 10 accessed courses. Those two options might help you access your classes quicker. But the classes will always be searchable within SLATE if you are enrolled in the class/virtual community/workbench.

The other option you have is to deactivate the course through the self-service tool. Here is the link for the instructions: https://ltsa.sheridancollege.ca/learning-technology-portal/course-management/faculty-self-service/
Once you have deactivated the course, you will not see it on your list. But you are able to go back into the Self-Service tool at any time if you need to update the permissions.

I hope that helps. If you have any other questions, please let us know.

If I create an item (for example, a quiz), can I access it from the other sections that I teach (total 4), or do I have to create it from scratch in each section?
