Configuring a Topic for Discussion

  • On the discussions page, click the drop-down arrow by the topic and choose Edit Topic
  • Click the Assessment tab
  • If you have a grade item created in the grade book. Choose the Grade Item from the drop-down list.
  • Fill in the Score you want this discussion to be graded out of.
  • Add a rubric, if applicable.
  • If you prefer you can choose to allow assessments of individual posts (Selecting this option allows instructors to assess posts in the topic. Each user’s topic score is calculated using the method selected from the Calculation drop-down list.)
  • Save and Close

 

 

 

 

 

 

Grade a Discussion Topic (Topic Only – All Students)

  • On the discussions page, click the drop-down arrow by the topic and choose Assess Topic.
  • Click Topic Score next to the user name
  • Fill in the Grade and any feedback
  • Save and Close

 

Grade a Discussion Topic (Individual Post)

  • On the discussions page, click the student’s post, More Actions and choose Assess.
  • Fill in the Grade and any feedback
  • Save and Close
