They support both operational and academic activities and differ by the template applied to each.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On your Microsoft Teams dashboard, you will notice two distinct tabs:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Teams Tab<\/strong>: This section includes sites created for administrative purposes or project-based collaboration. <\/li><li><strong>Class Tab<\/strong>: The &#8220;Class\u201d tab will appear on your dashboard. By selecting the dropdown menu within this tab, you will see a list of all automatically created Microsoft Teams sites that correspond to your teaching assignments for the current semester, as shown in the image below:<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"756\" height=\"404\" src=\"https:\/\/ltsa.sheridancollege.ca\/digital-learning-support-hub\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/28\/2025\/06\/ms-team.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-26910\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ltsa.sheridancollege.ca\/digital-learning-support-hub\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/28\/2025\/06\/ms-team.png 756w, https:\/\/ltsa.sheridancollege.ca\/digital-learning-support-hub\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/28\/2025\/06\/ms-team-300x160.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 756px) 100vw, 756px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3>How will an MS Teams Site be generated?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Microsoft Teams will automatically create a site for each delivery course section each semester.<\/li><li>Instructors can activate the MS Teams site at their discretion. <strong>Note:<\/strong> <strong>Until activated, the site will remain hidden from students.<\/strong><\/li><li>Students and designated support roles (e.g., tutors) will be enrolled automatically, aligning with enrollment data in SLATE and PeopleSoft.<\/li><li>If the Instructor activates the Course Team, students will be able to access it.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2>SLATE to MS Teams Sync<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Automatic Enrollment Sync<em>:<\/em><\/strong> Course Team membership is automatically updated based on SLATE enrollments. The following SLATE roles are synced to the corresponding Microsoft Teams channels:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Role Mapping from SLATE to Microsoft Teams:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td><strong>SLATE Roles<\/strong><\/td><td><strong>Microsoft Teams Roles<\/strong><\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Instructor<\/td><td>Owner<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Associate Deans<\/td><td>Owner<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Students<\/td><td>Member<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Tutors<\/td><td>Member<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Educational support<\/td><td>Member<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Secondary Instructor<\/td><td>Member<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><figcaption>Teams dashboard showing Classes and Teams<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong>&nbsp;Instructors\/Owners can enroll additional participants with either Owner&nbsp;or&nbsp;Member&nbsp;role as needed. The&nbsp;Owner&nbsp;role grants full, unrestricted access to all course Team content. Therefore, use caution when assigning this role. In contrast, the&nbsp;Member&nbsp;role provides limited access.
