You can add participants to your academic course, virtual community, commons or workbench. The rules are different for each environment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Academic Course\/Commons\/Workbench<\/strong>: As an instructor, you can only add other participants as secondary instructors. Secondary instructors are not able to enrol others. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Virtual Community<\/strong>: As an owner in the VC, you can add other owners, secondary instructors, and students. Owners are the only role that can enrol others in the course. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Regardless of the environment in which you add the participants, the directions are the same. The only caveat is that there is a bulk enrolment<\/a> option if you are enrolling students into VC. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adding a Participant to your Course:<\/h1>\n\n\n\n
  • In the course that you want to add a participant, select Classlist <\/strong>from Management<\/strong> on the course navbar.<\/li>
  • Select Add Participants.<\/strong><\/li>
  • From the drop-down menu, select Add Existing Users. <\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    • In the ‘Search For’ <\/strong>field enter the first name and last name of the person you want to add.<\/li>
    • Click the magnifying glass <\/strong>to search.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      • Once the system locates the user, check the box<\/strong> beside the user’s name.<\/li>
      • From the drop-down list under role, select Secondary Instructor, Student, (or whatever role might apply).<\/li>
      • Click Enrol Selected Users.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>
      • Click\u00a0Done.\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n

        Note: Some users have more than one account in SLATE. \u00a0Looking at the Org Defined ID, it will be a 9-digit number followed by _I for an instructor account or _S for a student account. Ensure you enrol the correct account. <\/h5>\n\n\n\n

        Removing a Participant from your Course:<\/h1>\n\n\n

        • In the course, you want to remove the participant from click\u00a0Classlist\u00a0<\/strong>on the course navbar.<\/li>
        • In the Classlist tool search for the participant you want to remove.<\/li>
        • Select the checkbox beside their name and click\u00a0Unenroll\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>
        • A pop-up window will appear. Confirm you want to remove the participant by clicking\u00a0Yes.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n
